Chapter 198
"Mr. Everly, really, | don't think so."
Amara pushed the credit card back towards him, her voice firm.
"I've got a busy schedule these days and no tfor this. Besides, I've never done any caregiving work before.
What if | mess up and make things worse for you? You should find someone else. I'm going to head out now."
With that, Amara turned to leave, but Finnian reached out and stopped her with his uninjured left hand.
"Hold on a second."
In his hurry to pull her, Finnian misjudged his strength, causing Amara to lose her balance and land in his lap, her
hand accidentally pressing down on his bandaged right arm.
Finnian winced in pain, and Amara, startled, quickly got up and turned around to check on him. Seeing Finnian
clutching his injured arm with a pained expression, she hurriedly asked, "Mr. Everly, are you okay? Is it serious?"
Finnian was about to say, "It's not serious," but as if remembering something, suddenly changed his tune. "Very

Amara was speechless.
"Well, Mr. Everly, I..."
"You don't need to do much, just stay and take care of me. You'll still get paid as usual."
Finnian said this with such righteousness that Amara was taken aback. How had she never noticed Finnian's thick
skin before?
"Do you have any objections?"
Seeing her stunned expression, Finnian asked. He continued to clutch his injured arm, his face indeed pale,
looking quite pitiful.
Amara thought for a moment. The pressure she applied earlier was indeed quite firm, and Finnian must be in
pain. He kept insisting she stay. Maybe she should.
The main reason of her oscillation was that she feared the divorce might face another hiccup.
So, if she stayed and took good care of Finnian, ensuring he could be discharged safely in a week, the chances of
a smooth divorce could be higher, she surmised.
Having thought it through, Amara nodded and replied, "Alright, I'll stay."
Finnian hadn't expected her to agree so quickly. The persuasive words he had prepared were now stuck in his
throat.
Without looking at Finnian's
expression, Amara walked over to the cabinet, her back to him, and said, "What do | need to do? Mr. Everly, just
letknow if there's anything you need."
"For now, there's nothing you need to do. I'll let you know if something comes up."
Even with her back turned to the hospital bed, Amara had this inexplicable feeling that Finnian was watching her.
Feeling a bit uncomfortable, she nodded and uttered, "I'll step out for a bit, to buy sthings. I'll be back
soon."
With that, she left the room. Finnian watched her leave, his gaze lingering long after she was gone.
That evening, after helping Finnian with dinner and finishing her own meal, Amara tidied up and prepared to

Amara opened her mouth, instinctively wanting to decline. "Mr. Everly, maybe not."
Though she had agreed to be a caregiver, she hadn't anticipated staying overnight.
Finnian's room was a private one, with just a hospital bed and a cot for a caregiver, the two beds quite close
together. Being alone in a room with Finnian felt rather inconvenient.
But when Finnian heard her about to refuse, he interrupted, "I hired you to be a 24-hour caregiver. If you leave at
night, what's the point of having a caregiver?"
Amara was rendered speechless.
