Chapter 704 "Do you think Hendrix is the type to argue with me?" Noelle countered.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtBeatrice was momentarily caught off guard by her question. Then, she chuckled and said, "You're right. Now that you mention it, he's not." "But knowing him, it's totally possible he said something infuriating," Beatrice added slowly. "Though, given how things are between you two now... I doubt he would, right?" Noelle didn't respond to that. She simply averted her gaze and took another sip of wine before saying, "I'm not actually angry with him." "Oh?" "I just don't want to see him right now. That's all," Noelle said with a frown. "It's not so much anger as it is exasperation. I'm exasperated at his lack of trust in me.
"I'm even starting to wonder if I've done something to make him misunderstand me. Does he really think I'd choose someone else just because of a few words from others?" Beatrice had already heard the full story from Hendrix. Now, as she listened to Noelle's version, she couldn't help but let out a soft laugh.
The sudden sound made Noelle frown even more, and she turned to look at her. "Why are you doubting yourself? This is entirely his problem," Beatrice said. "It's not that he doesn't trust you. It's that he doesn't trust himself.
"Because he's so afraid of losing you, he keeps looking for reassurances. That's why, when he found himself in a position where he had to be chosen, he was terrified you wouldn't pick him." Once Beatrice finished speaking, Noelle was at a loss for words.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBeatrice, however, simply refilled Noelle's glass. "It's fine. Once you two talk it out, everything will be okay. For now, let him stew in his anxiety for a couple of days." Noelle stayed silent.
Beatrice looked at her. "What's the matter? You feel sorry for him?" "No," Noelle replied quickly. After a pause, she added, "I'm just wondering if you're really his mother."
Hearing this, Beatrice burst into a hearty laughter. She then took a sip of her wine, before saying, "Hendrix has always been too clever for his own good. It wasn't so bad when he was younger. But once he fully took over Amity Group, it felt like everything around him was under his control.
"He must have introduced you to his friends abroad, right? Do you know what they play? Games that cam bankrupt someone in an hour. Sometimes, in just one night, they can even crash the economy of a small country. When I first found out he was involved with that crowd, I was strongly against it.
"But he toldhe had it under control-he said he only dabbled in those things for fun. And I believed him. I trusted he knew where to draw the line. But what if one day, even those things no longer interested him? Honestly, was even worried he might do something even more reckless. "However, I don't have to worry about that anymore now because you've got a hold on him. As someone in a position of power, this isn't necessarily a good thing. If this had happened before, I might have tried to stop it, maybe even drive you away from him.
"But now, I think it's a good thing. Because of you, he gets angry, sad, and anxious. He's not the sHendrix who used to have everything under control. Doesn't he seem more alive to you now? And I also think he's happier than he was ever before." mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLliIofifl0&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1
