As everyone laughed even harder, Tigris nudged Lara with his elbow, saying pointedly, "You gotta keep an eye out, or Mr. Frankton would be stolen soon." Lara did not appear to worry, however, and ignored him as she turned to Frank. "May I ask for a favor after we're done here?" "What is it?" Frank asked in curiosity.
Lara brandished her phone. "It's not me—it's Mr. Chand. He owes his current success to a certain person, and that person has suddenly taken ill. He's hoping that you'll help with their treatment!" Frank was not sure how to react. "Why didn't he calldirectly?" Lara shrugged. "You'd have to ask Mr. Chand about that!" Frank nodded in silence, since this meant he had a chance to peek into Jason Chand's secret.
The next day, the construction team arrived and worked for the day. Once the load structures were complete, Sylvie led the expedition down to the tomb again, moving more artifacts.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThey were more or less done by evening, and Sylvie was wiping sweat as she walked up to Frank. "Your work will be done once we load the artifacts on the vehicles. Who knows when we'll see each other again?" Frank smiled. "You're kidding. We'll have all the tin the world to meet." Sylvie smiled in silence but had clearly made up her mind.
That was when a crowd of over two hundred showed up nearby and soon encircled the expedition team.
They were all locals, carrying farming tools while glaring at them coolly.
Lara moved up to Frank, asking in confusion, "What's going on here? Why are they doing this?" Frank did not appear surprised and gestured with his chin.
Lara turned and saw a fat man in a suit striding out of the crowd, who barked at the expedition team, "Listen up! You found those artifacts in our village, so you should leave them here with us! You don't get to take them away!" Lara understood right then. The villagers never had any intention of stealing the artifacts-they were simply instigated.
To make things worse, the expedition team would have trouble handling this.
If anything bad happened and the villagers snapped, the situation would turn out of control.
Sylvie was naturally exasperated et and presented her papers. "Sir, we have official permission to excavate this tomb. Read this document if you don't believe me!" Content belongs to en.kikistories"I don't care about permission. You're not taking those artifacts away-you're sharing them with us! Right, everyone?" The villagers all nodded at the fat man's words, as he had told them that the artifacts were worth millions before they came. And if they got their hands on it, they would not ever have to worry about anything else for the rest of their lives! "The way I see it, you're never going to share-you want everything for yourself, don't you?" Sylvie kept arguing, knowing that they must not make enemies of the villagers.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThey had to isolate that fat man to completely resolve this.
"Why do you care? Whoever let you talk here, bitch?" Nonetheless, the fat man quickly retorted, not forgetting to throw in an insult.
Sylvie was furious but had to let it slide as she reasoned coolly, "Stop it. This is no different from robbery-why bring trouble down on your doorstep?" The fat man laughed. "You're not quite right there. We're just taking back what's rightfully ours. Right, everyone?!" Seeing that the fat man was not playing ball at all, Sylvie clenched her fists, ready to get physical.
That was when Frank leapt up, punching the fat man sharply in the face and knocking him out.
While the villagers traded glances, hesitating if they should attack, Frank spoke, "Just wait for a moment! If I'm not mistaken, this man isn't even from your village, is he? It's obvious that he wants to instigate an argument and then seize the opportunity to take everything for himself." Content belongs to en.kikistories.com
