Chapter 141
"I want that woman dead!" said a woman.
"Who are you talking about?" asked a man.
"Paisley, Dominick's ex-wife," she said.
"| told you a long tago-just get rid of that woman once and for all," the man chuckled.
Everyone from the Vanderbilt family, who had been looking down at their phones, froze. They lifted their heads
in unison, staring at the large TV screen. This voice sounded so familiar.
On the TV, the video of the man and woman's conversation continued playing.
"This matter is yours to handle. Find someone reliable to do it. Once it's done, you can have whatever you want,"
the woman said.
"Haha, what else would | want? As long as my cousin becomes the Vanderbilt family's matriarch, I'll benefit too.
I'll have everything then."
"Exactly. By then, the entire Vanderbilt family will be mine."
It was Marissa's voice! The Vanderbilt family members couldn't recognize the man's voice, but Marissa's was
unmistakable!
Kayla and Lauren exchanged glances, each seeing shock mirrored in the other's eyes. What had they just heard?
Was Marissa planning to kill Paisley?
The two shook their heads in sync, their expressions a mix of disbelief and refusal to accept what they'd heard.

Reginald's face darkened. He had recognized Marissa's voice almost instantly. As for the man's voice, he
recognized that too. It was Jeremy, Marissa's good-for-nothing cousin-Stella's father.
Over the years, the Vanderbilt family had often supported Jeremy out of consideration for Marissa. But Jeremy
was a scoundrel, dabbling in every vice imaginable: drinking, gambling, and more.
However, this wasn't the tto dwell on Jeremy's past. The critical question was: how had this video appeared
on their TV screen? If the video was real, was Paisley still alive?
Reginald wasn't the only one to consider this. Dominick had thought of it as well. He immediately called Paisley,
and then waited for her to answer agonizingly.
However, the call rang only twice before being abruptly disconnected. He called again and simultaneously
arranged for someone to locate Paisley.
In an instant, the once-bustling living room fell silent. No one spoke. Apart from the TV, there was no other
sound.
"Just kill her? Aren't you going to take care of her kid too?" asked Jeremy.
"Of course. | can't stand her daughter either. For all we know, she might actually be Dom's child. Kill her too-it'll
solve everything in one go," said Marissa.
"Fine. One big, one small-it's an easy job."
All eyes turned to Marissa. Marissa's face turned ashen. Her tear-filled eyes, which had previously looked so
pitiful, now betrayed her growing panic.
"This-this is fake! | didn't say this! This video is edited!" Marissa stood up, looking for the remote to turn off the
TV. "Don't believe this! It's a prank!" But the remote, which had been on the table earlier, was nowhere to be
found.
Marissa frantically searched near Grayson, her voice trembling with fear. "Sonny, dear, handthe remote."
Grayson shook his head. "I don't know where it is either." He looked at Marissa, his expression a mix of confusion
and doubt. "Marissa, did you really want to kill my mom?"
"What are you saying? Sonny, I'm your favorite Marissa! Don't you believe me?" Marissa's emotions surged, like
a cornered mouse frantically trying to escape. She continued searching aimlessly for the remote.
On the TV, the video continued to play.
"Oh!" Marissa's voice in the video boomed. "Find a chance to kill Grayson too."
"| thought you liked that kid," asked Jeremy.
"Like him? Ha! I'm just using him. He's just a little bastard with half of Paisley's blood in him. Why would he be
my son? | will have my own child with Dominick"
"True. That little bastard can't inherit the Vanderbilt family's wealth. The future heir of the Vanderbilt family must
carry Prescott's blood."
At that moment, Lauren's world crumbled. "Marissa! What is this? Explain yourself! You wanted to kill Sonny?"
Grayson was Lauren's everything. No one could harm her precious grandson. Anyone who tried deserved to die!
"Marissa! Speak up!" Lauren lost her composure. She strode over and slapped Marissa across the face. "Mrs.
Vanderbilt, it's not true! I didn't say that! The video is fake-it's edited! Someone's trying to frme. You have
to believe me!" Marissa panicked, pushing Lauren away. Unable to find the remote, she rushed to the TV, intent
on unplugging it directly.
But the TV was embedded, with the switch button and power plug inside. You could only reach them by finding
another remote control and extending the TV out.

"Where's the remote? Where's the remote?" Marissa's emotions were already on the verge of collapsing. Every
gaze on her felt like a knife stabbing into her.
When they had looked at her before, with warmth and intimacy, now those knives felt even more painful as they
pierced her.
Grayson was already seven years old. He understood the dialogue in the video and could see Marissa's current
emotional collapse.
He looked at Marissa in fear, tears falling in large drops. His beloved Marissa wanted to kill him.
"No, no way," Kayla laughed nervously. "It's fake. Marissa wouldn't; she's so kind."
The next second, the conversation in the video continued, and it slapped Kayla in the face.
"I'm really curious, what would the Vanderbilt family think if they knew it was you who killed their beloved
grandson?"
"They won't know. The Vanderbilt family is full of idiots, they trust me! What | say goes! Just like back
then, when | said Paisley deliberately gavemango cake and caused my allergic reaction that almost killed
me. They believed it, without even checking!"
"Haha, the Vanderbilt family really is stupid!"
"Not only them, but Julian is also very stupid. | told them Paisley didn't treat them like family, they believed me! |
hinted that Paisley had ill intentions, they believed that too! Get the job done. | don't want to see Paisley's face
again."
Kayla's frantic smile finally couldn't hold up anymore. "Marissa! Why? Our whole family trusted you so much!
Why?"
