Chapter 481 How Do You Know He Is Not Good

Isla abruptly stood up, looking at Zephyr in disbelief.

"If you still consideras your brother, heed my words and return to Fairlake tomorrow!" Zephyr said, looking

up at her from his seat on the couch.

"I'm not going back!" Isla huffed in annoyance, sinking back into the corner of the couch. "If you want to go back,

you should do it yourself!"

"Zachary is not a good man. Even if you two have a child, he won't stay with you."

Zachary had previously been embroiled in a cheating scandal and was now he was dealing with a complicated

situation with his ex-wife. Any parent who truly loved their daughter wouldn't choose him. "How do you know

he's not a good man? How can you be sure he won't be with me? We even had lunch together today!"

Faced with Isla's stubbornness, Zephyr felt a pang of frustration. He scoffed coldly and said, "You weren't dining

alone. Harrietta was there too, wasn't she?"

At such a crucial moment, Zachary would never dine alone with Isla unless he truly intended to break up with

Lenora.

"Yes... She is our child after all," Isla stuttered upon being exposed. "Doesn't the three of us dining together like a

family perfectly illustrate his intentions?"

Zephyr glanced at Isla, falling into a moment of silence.

Is she truly my sister, born of the sparents? Why is she so stupid?

The act of dining together was a common occurrence among people of various relationships, such as friends,

colleagues, classmates, clients, and so on. Even strangers could find themselves sharing a meal. Thus, in a

romantic relationship, having a meal together didn't mean anything.

Isla's use of their shared meal to illustrate Zachary's attitude highlighted two issues. First, Zachary had never

dined with her before. Second, there wasn't an iota of feelings between her and Zachary. Otherwise, she

wouldn't resort to using their meal as an argument. This time, Zachary had agreed to share a meal with her and

their child, likely because she was the mother of his child.

Seeing the doubt in Zephyr's eyes, Isla couldn't help but try to convince him. "You have to believe me. He even

said today that he won't remarry Fay! Zack, he won't remarry Fay!"

Isla had already cast aside her promise to Alice, focusing solely on convincing Zephyr, making a point to

emphasize the fact.

She assumed that Zephyr would be very pleased to hear the news.

Yet, Zephyr merely blinked, his expression unchanging. "So what?" he said. "Just because they're not getting

married doesn't mean they can't be together. You need to stop being so stubborn!" What does Zachary's decision

to remarry Lenora have anything to do with me?

Isla's expression froze.

Does he love Fay so much that he would rather step back and watch her get together with Zachary?

"Zephyr, shouldn't you be happy that they're not getting back together?" she probed.

"I wish they would just remarry, so you can stop clinging on to your fantasies."

Zephyr stood up, looking down at Isla. "If you're fond of that child, I'll find a way to help you fight for custody and

bring her back to Fairlake. As for anything else, there's no room for discussion." "Zephyr, I'm not going back no

matter what!"

With that, the siblings parted on bad terms.

"What did Caesare tell you?"

In Isla's room, Alice noticed her sitting dejectedly by the bed and approached her with concern.

"He knew about Harrietta, yet he firmly disapproves ofbeing with Zachary. He wantsto return to Fairlake

tomorrow."

"Why?"

"Who knows?" Isla rolled her eyes in exasperation. "Maybe he's utterly devoted to Fay and is willing to give up

everything just to make her happy."

Alice cast her gaze downward. "She indeed poses a threat, but now is not the tto deal with her. What's your

plan now?"

"No matter that, I'm not going back."

"What if he tells your parents and they ask you to go back?"

Isla moved her lips slightly, her mind in a mess. Yet, she stubbornly declared, "I'm absolutely not going back."

"Perhaps you should first discuss

the matter with your uncle. Tell him that you've finally reunited with your child and wish to spend smore

there. The child has been with Zachary for a while and isn't yet familiar with you, so it wouldn't be wise to

abruptly take her back to Fairlake. You can also ask your uncle to help persuade Caesare on your behalf."

"My brother wouldn't believe it."

"Whether he believes it or not is beside the point. As long as your uncle can persuade him, that's all that

matters."

"Alright, I'll give it a shot," Isla said after giving it sthought.

At ten in the evening, Zachary, who was working in his study, received a call from Matthew.

"Hello, Mr. Xenos?"

"Zack, it's me."

A familiar voice rang out, steady and calm. "I'm aware of what happened between you and Isla."

Zachary paused for a moment, then gracefully conceded, "Mr. Xenos, about Ms. Isla, I'm truly sorry."

After all, he did do Isla a wrong turn.

Back then, under a clouded

consciousness, he forced himself on Isla who had mistakenly entered his room. Tamara feared that if Isla

reported him to the police, he would end up in jail. Taking advantage of Isla's youth and innocence, she

persuaded her into not doing so and have the child. Content bélongs to

If Isla hadn't reunited with Harrietta and he had never met the former in Sloummont or Fairlake, he would have

certainly done his utmost to meet her conditions, except for being with her.

However, when he had met Isla in Fairlake and learned of her involvement with Tamara, he understood that she

was just using Harrietta to break him and Lenora up. Hence, it was difficult for him to feel any guilt toward her.

However, in Matthew's presence, there was a need to put on a show.

"What's done is done. There's no point in discussing it further. I've heard that this little girl, Hattie, is quite

adorable. If you're free tomorrow, bring her over to meet me."

"Hmm... Okay."

After hanging up the phone, Zachary slowly placed his cell on the table and leaned back in his chair, closing his

eyes to rest.

The fact that Matthew was aware of the matter had its pros and cons.

The advantage was, he would never assist Isla in achieving her goals. In fact, he might even hinder her.

Lenora had once sought out Matthew over his case. The latter knew that even though they were not remarried,

their feelings for each other were still strong. Naturally, he wouldn't want his niece to marry a man who was still

involved with his ex-wife. The downside was, if Isla were to ask for it, there was a chance that Matthew might

fight for Harrietta's custody on her behalf.

However, having Matthew as a great-uncle was, on the whole, more beneficial to Harrietta. Zachary would never

prevent him from seeing her.

During breakfast on Sunday, Harrietta heard from Zachary that he planned to take her to meet her great-uncle.

Harrietta looked up, her brows furrowing slightly as she asked curiously, "What is a great-uncle?"

"He is your biological mother's uncle."

"Is he very important?" Harrietta continued, head tilted.

This issue would decide her attitude toward Matthew.

"Extremely. He is the mayor of our city and holds significant authority. If he wants to take custody of you away,

all he needs is to inform the court."

"Huh?" Harrietta's mouth fell open in surprise. "Is he really that powerful?"

"He is." Zachary nodded. "But you shouldn't worry, he's not unreasonable. Just act naturally."

"Mm-hmm." Harrietta nodded.

At half past ten in the morning, a car pulled up outside Matthew's house.

Zachary stepped out of the car, opened the backseat door, and led out the little girl dressed in a shimmering

dress.

Her eyes were big and black, framed

by long lashes that fluttered like butterfly wings. Her nose was small and pert, her lips plump and full. Her skin

was as smooth and pale as milk, giving her an ethereal glow. Standing there, she resembled an oversized doll,

radiating an irresistible charm.

"Is this Hattie? She's beautiful!"
