Chapter 85
Chapter 85
“Here are the things that need your signature.” Anna said as she handed Izzy a pile of documents. Please sign
here and her
Anna placed a second folder on the desk, neatly aligning it with the first. “This one contains the compliance
documents for the Macau Cultural Center. We need your signature on pages three, five, and seven to
acknowledge receipt and approval Izzy nodded, reaching for the pen beside her. Her fingers fumbled slightly as
she flipped to the indicated pages. Her hands were steadier when reviewing contracts, but not today. She felt
Lam's presence more that she should, the subtle movements of his pen against paper audible from across the
room. She resisted the urge to glance up, but her traitorous eyes flicked toward him for the briefest moment
before darting back to the document in front of her.
Unfortunately for her, Anna continued, unaware of Izzy's thoughts. “The approval for the environmental impact
study is included here,” she explained, pointing to a specific section of the document. “It’s already been cleared
by the local council, but your acknowledgment is required for the project's timeline to proceed. Without it, the
construction permits will be delayed.”
“Understood,” Izzy murmured, scribbling her non the marked lines. She flipped to the next page, forcing
herself to focus on Anna's words
“And here.” Anna went on, placing another set of documents in front of Izzy. “Is the financial guarantee
agreement. The bank requires this to release the next tranche of funding. Mr. Qin from the finance department
will handle the coordination, but your signature is essential to authorize the transfer.”
Izzy nodded, her movements mechanical. Her mind replayed the earlier scene with Liam, her stomach twisting in
knots. She could still feel the ghost of his touch, the heat of his lips against hers. Her grip tightened on the pen,
and she accidentally pressed too hard, leaving an indent on the paper. She pulled her hand back, annoyed with
herself.

“Sorry,” she muttered, hastily fixing the page before signing.
Anna didn’t seem to notice and moved on, sliding yet another document toward her. “This one is the vendor
compliance checklist. All contractors have submitted their requirements, but we'll need a final review from legal
before construction begins.”
Izzy signed without looking up, nodding automatically. Her peripheral vision caught Liam shifting in his seat. She
didn’t need to look to know he was watching her. The intensity of his gaze was enough to set her nerves on
edge. She pressed her lips into a thin line, her focus stubbornly fixed on the task at hand.
“Anna,” Liam's voice interrupted, his words measured. He set down his pen and leaned back in his chair. “Could
you summarize what's left for today? We wouldn't want to overwhelm Miss Rossi, would we?”
Anna glanced between them, her expression neutral as she nodded. “Of course, Mr. Horvath.”
Then Anna turned back to Izzy, her pen hovering over her notes “We just need to finalize the internal compliance
reports. Once those are signed, I'll forward them to the regulatory board. After that, we're waiting on feedback
from the Cultural Heritage Office regarding the center's design. Everything else is on track.”
“Perfect,” Liam said, leaning forward slightly. “Izzy, does that work for you?”
She kept her eyes on the papers in front of her, refusing to acknowledge the knowing smirk she could sense on
his face. “Yes, that's fine,” she replied curtly, her hand moving to sign the last document Anna had presented.
Anna collected the signed papers, neatly stacking them in her folder. “Thank you. I'll coordinate with the other
departments and update you once we hear back from the Cultural Heritage Office.”
Izzy nodded again. “Thank you, Anna.”

As Anna left the room. Izzy immediately busied herself by organizing the papers on her desk. She could still feel
Liam watching her, his presence as distracting as ever. When she finally looked up, her eyes met his for a brief
second before she turned away, heat rising to her cheeks once again.
“You seem tense,” Liam remarked, casually resting his elbows on the table. “Something on your mind?”
“Aside from the fact that you're here...” She leaned back in her chair, letting her eyes trail over him for a
moment.
He was maddeningly good-looking, even with the smug smirk tugging at his lips. Today, he wore an all-black
ensemble-a sleek turtleneck that hugged his broad shoulders and sculpted chest, paired with a tailored coat that
added an air of effortless sophistication. The outfit was simple, yet it emphasized his commanding presence. His
dark hair was neatly styled, a few strands rebelliously falling across his forehead, only adding to his charm.
Of course, only she knew what was beneath those polished clothes the faint kiss marks she'd left on him, a
reminder of the night she was desperately trying to forget. She crossed her arms, her expression guarded. “Why
are you here instead of in your office?” she asked, gesturing toward the door that connected their spaces.
“Isn't it because I'm bored?” he asked. “The offices in this building are unbelievably big. Don’t you think so too?”
“Yet you were the one who arranged it,” she mumbled as she went back to the papers in front of her. “If you
didn’t want to feel bored, then perhaps you could find another office.”
“Why do | feel like you wanted to get rid ofafter last night?”
Her gaze snapped back to him. “You-"
“What?” He tilted his head. “Are you planning to kickout after what you did? Aren't you going to take
responsibility for my bruises?”
“You-" Her eyes went so wide it seemed they were about to pop out of their sockets. Izzy didn’t know how to
react!
“Did | say something wrong?” he asked.

“I-" 1zzy opened her mouth to protest but quickly stopped herself. She wanted to argue, to tell him he was wrong,
that she had no intention of kicking him out. But she caught herself. She wasn’t about to give him more
ammunition to tease her. She'd learned her lesson the hard way. With a tight smile, she nodded instead. “You
can stay as long as you want.”
“Perfect,” Liam said with a grin as he stood and left the office. She let out a relieved sigh, but it was short-lived.
Moments later, he returned-this twheeling in his own swivel chair.
Her brow furrowed as she watched him maneuver the chair toward her desk. He parked it directly across from
her with all the casual confidence in the world.
“What are you doing?” she finally asked, her tone sharp as she stared at him in disbelief.
Liam plopped into the chair and leaned back, his hands clasping behind his head. “Since we'll be collaborating, |
thought it'd be more efficient if we worked closer for better communication
Izzy's jaw dropped as she watched him settle in, completely at ease. She pointed at the chair, then at him, words
failing her for a moment. “You-"
“What?” he asked, blinking innocently as if he didn’t know exactly what he was doing. Then, with a sly smirk, he
added, “You wouldn't kickout after what you did to me... last night, would you?”
Her cheeks burned as her mind replayed the events of the previous night. She clenched her jaw, biting back a
retort. He was insufferable-and worse, he knew it.
Yet, for sinexplicable reason, she didn’t feel angry or even annoyed. Instead, a peculiar warmth stirred
within her—a

feeling she could only describe as... happiness
