Izzy walked into the coffee shop and immediately caught sight of Monica, who was seated in the far corner. The
atmosphere was warm and inviting-sofi yellow lights bathed the room, blending with the low hum of
conversation and the comforting scent of freshly brewed coffee, Despite the peaceful ambiance, Monica stuck
out like a sore thumb.
She wore a sleek black dress, almost too formal for a place like this, as if it could somehow hide the exhaustion
etched into her face. Dark circles ringed her eyes, the kind even expensive makeup couldn't fully conceal. Her
complexion was pale, almost sickly, stark against her meticulously styled hair. Yet, despite plenty of other empty
seats scattered throughout the café, Monica had chosen that isolated corner, as though she wanted to melt into
the shadows and avoid being noticed.
Izzy walked over to Monica, who offered a tight smile and gestured toward the seat opposite her.
“| already ordered something for you,” Monica announced.
Izzy raised an eyebrow and called the nearby waiter.
“Cancel whatever she ordered,” she said firmly.
The waiter hesitated. “Unfortunately, the order can’t be canceled anymore.”
“Fine, throw it away,” Izzy replied coldly. “I'll pay for it, and I'd like a fresh cup of coffee instead. Brewed, no
sugar or milk.”
Monica's eyes narrowed, her forced smile fading.
“Really?” Monica asked, irritation slipping into her voice.
Izzy leaned forward slightly.“You know better than anyone why | wouldn't trust a drink you ordered.”
Monica's expression soured further, but she said nothing. The waiter returned with a new cup of coffee, setting it
gently on the table before departing.
Monica broke the silence after a moment, studying Izzy with a sharp glance.

“You look different.”
Izzy smirked faintly and took a slow sip of her coffee.
“And you look sick,” she shot back without hesitation.
Monica's face twisted in response, the polite facade crumbling under Izzy's insult.
“I haven't been sleeping a lot,” Monica said.
“I can see that.”
Monica pursed her lips. She never expected Izzy to be this cold.
“Mom said she missed you.”
Izzy smirked, but said nothing in response.
“I know | made a mistake, but at least you should see Mom. She’s worried about you.”
“Of course,” Izzy said. “Surely, you didn’t ask to seeto talk about this, right?”

Monica swallowed. “Look... I'm not even gonna pretend that | like you or that we like each ober der t Mom is
innocent in all this.”
“Of course she is,” Izzy responded without batting an eyelid.
Hearing this, Monica sighed. “I talked to Calen, and he said he is pursuing you again”
“Calen’s moved on.” Izzy smiled. “He’s already with someone else.”
“What?” Monica's expression turned ugly.
“He is currently with the heiress of the Johnson family,” Izzy said. “Did he forget to tell you?”
“I-" Monica frowned. No. Izzy must be lying. She must have wanted to hurt her or see her reaction. Too bad.
Monica would never let this woman win.
“Is this the only reason why you wanted to see me?” Izzy asked.
“No. I-” Monica bit her lip. “I just wanted to let you know that I-I’'m pregnant.”
For the first tsince she arrived, Izzy showed a different expression on her face,
“Pregnant?”
“With Calen’s child,” Monica said.
Izzy wrapped her hands around the warm cup. She took another sip, her eyes briefly closing as if the heat of the
drink cont steady her thoughts. Across the table, Monica leaned back slightly, a faint smirk tugging at the
comers of her lips as the watched.
Izzy set the cup down and met Monica's gaze.
“I don’t this this concerns me, Monica. Why are you tellingthis? Do you wantto be it's godmother?” Izzy
asked
Monica crossed her arms, tilting her head slightly. Godmother? What was this woman thinking? Because | think
it’s tyou heard the truth.” Monica said. “Calen never loved you. He only wanted you for your money, for
access to your name. And his mother-she wanted you because you're a Rossi, because of what you could offer. |
figured you were smart enough to see that by now.”
Izzy stared at her for a moment, then chuckled softly. She leaned forward, resting her arms on the table. “You
calledhere just to say that? I'm already well aware.”
Monica frowned but quickly masked it. “I wanted you to hear it directly. | also wanted you to finally give up on
Calen. Let us move on. We're going to start a family together.”
Izzy raised an eyebrow, her fingers tapping the edge of her cup.
“Is that so?” Izzy said.
“Yes,” Monica answered. “I'm carrying his child. Do you really want to stand in the way of that? Could your
conscience handle leaving an innocent child without a father?”
Izzy blinked, taken aback by the audacity of the statement. Then, slowly, she leaned back in her chair, lips
curling into a smile. A sharp, humorless laugh escaped her as she shook her head.
Monica's smirk faltered.

“You,” Izzy answered, her shoulders relaxing as she watched Monica, “You really thought that would work?” She
lifted her cup and took another sip, shaking her head in disbelief. “You have snerve,”
“What do you mean by that?” Monica’s frown deepened,
Izzy crossed her legs and folded her arms on the table.
“You must be out of your mind if you think Cecil Weiss would ever let you marry Calen. She'd sooner throw you
out than let that happen.”
Monica stiffened but quickly composed herself. “This isn’t about Cecil. It's about the future heir of the Weiss
family. Once the child is born, it'll have Weiss’s last name. What can she do about that?”
Izzy chuckled, shaking her head. She reached into her bag, pulled out scash, and placed it neatly on the
table. Then she stood up, brushing off her coat. “I enjoyed this little chat, but I'm busy. I'd really appreciate it if
you keptout of your . | have nothing to do with the Weiss family anymore. Calen’s moved on, and so
have I. So whatever plans you have, they're not my concern.” She gaye Monica a pointed look. “Good luck with
the baby.”
Izzy turned to leave, but Monica shot up from her chair and grabbed Izzy's wrist. Izzy immediately frowned,
pulling back slightly.
“Letgo,” she said, her eyes narrowing.
Monica's lips curved into a smirk.
“You're wrong, Izzy. This has everything to do with you. From now on, every part of it involves you.”
“What?”
Without warning, Monica released Izzy's hand and let herself drop to the floor with a thud. Izzy froze for a
second, eyes widening as a few nearby customers glanced in their direction.
“Ahhhh!” Monica suddenly screamed as she clutched her stomach. “My baby!”
