Love at the Wrong Table
Chapter 2274 In Memoriam: The Parents
Gautier did not act with Aora.
After Aora entered the Chapel of Oros, he first set fire to the small church.
Then, he returned to instruct Miles and sof Teddy's loyal followers to spread a false rumor that Emmanuel
had cto the mountain to kill!
“Mr. Verkade, will this trick really work?”

Miles, though skilled in martial arts, was not particularly bright and could not help asking, “Everyone knows that
Emmanuel is still guarding Ethan. He shouldn't be heading up Divine Mountain until tomorrow morning!”
“Does it matter when he arrives?” Gautier grinned smugly. “We just need to say he has already gone up the
mountain to kill. In the minds of the people here, he’s already a demon! A lie told a thousand times becomes the
truth.”
This was a classic brainwashing technique often used in Westeria-a lie told a thousand times becomes the truth.
Miles did not bother questioning whether the method would work; he simply followed Gautier’s orders.
Soon, the news of the fire at the foot of the Chapel of Oros alarmed the other class leaders. One of the Big Four,
Master Dalton, led his men to investigate, only to find that the friars in the church had been brutally murdered.
“D*mn it, who did this? We at the Chapel of Oros must find him and ensure justice!” Master Dalton -bellowed.
The members of the chapel were united in their anger. This was the first tin many years that someone had
dared to commit murder on their sacred ground, and the victims were their own disciples.
At that moment, cries for help suddenly echoed from the mountain. “Help! Emmanuel Lowe is here to kill!”
“He's trying to sabotage the meeting tomorrow by taking us out early!”
“Everyone, cquickly! Let's take down this wolf together!”
The cries were soon accompanied by multiple outbreaks of fighting throughout the chapel grounds.
Master Dalton found himself overwhelmed, just as Gautier had anticipated. He immediately ordered his disciples
to summon reinforcements from other areas.
Meanwhile, in the study, Rudy Hebert quickly entered and bowed, reporting, “Mr. Zelinsky, it is said that
Emmanuel Lowe has sneaked up the mountain to kill. The elite guards of the study, like those elsewhere, have
been temporarily reassigned!”
Ezra, who was reading, calmly set down his book.
After a moment's contemplation, he instructed, “Rudy, don’t stay outside guarding anymore. Find a place to
hide.”
Rudy hesitated for a brief moment, not understanding the reason for the order, but bowed respectfully and

As he was about to leave the room, Ezra added, “Wait. Find out where Hattie is and bring her to me.”
Still puzzled but unquestioning, Rudy simply obeyed, “Yes”.
Magnus had been observing the movements around the study from above.

As soon as he saw the guards being reassigned, he knew Gautier’s “lure the lion from its den” strategy had
succeeded.
However, when he saw Rudy also leaving the study at this crucial moment, he sensed something was amiss.
Rudy was no ordinary servant-he was a trusted fighter of the Zelinsky family. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been
consistently trusted and relied upon by Ezra.
At this critical moment, Ezra should have assigned him to provide protection outside. Why would Ezra dismiss
him now, of all times?
“Magnus, | finally found you!” Hattie’s voice suddenly called out behind him. “You haven't been staying in your
assigned place tonight. What are you doing here?”
Hattie was sharp. She knew that tonight was the calm before the storm, and her brother wouldn't just sit idly in
his room.
She had cto find Magnus precisely to see what he was planning.
To her surprise, he immediately urged, “Hattie, hide immediately. Do not show yourself tonight!”
“Why?” Hattie was puzzled.
She had heard the rumors about Emmanuel attacking someone up the mountain, but she knew they were false.
Even if they were true, he wouldn't harm her.
“There's no tto explain!” Magnus insisted urgently. Scanning the surroundings, he spotted a small grove and
pointed to it. “If you trust me, hide there for the night. Don't let anyone see you. Do you understand?”
Hattie saw the seriousness in her brother's expression. Though reluctant, she trusted him and followed his
instructions.
As soon as she disappeared into hiding, he saw a red figure rushing into the study and hurriedly ran down the
steps.
Magnus’ expression turned grim as he recalled details about his father.
In his memory, he had never seen his father fight. However, he knew that every day, his father practiced martial
arts in seclusion.
Of course, many believed he practiced only for fitness, but who truly knew how skilled he was?
Magnus, like many others, had always seen his father as a refined scholar-elegant, cultured, and fond of books.
But he knew more than most.
As a child, he once discovered bruises on his mother, Freya. She had dismissed them, saying she had been
mistreated by the Zelinsky family, offering no details.
Now, looking back, Magnus found it implausible. His mother was still the Madam of the Zelinsky family. Who
among the household would dare harm her?

Certainly not the servants!
If that was the case, then the only person who could have inflicted those wounds was his father.
As a child, Magnus hadn’t given much thought to his parents’ combat abilities. Domestic violence was
common.

But as he grew older, he learned his mother was the Queen of Dark Night Islands. How terrifying must the man
who was capable of injuring her be?
Magnus now tried to connect the dots regarding Rudy’s sudden reassignment.
Ezra was not foolish-Magnus even believed his father was more cunning than himself. Could he really not see
through the deception crafted by Magnus and Gautier?
Magnus never considered the “lure the lion from its den” trick particularly sophisticated. The only conclusion left
was that Ezra had absolute confidence in his own strength.
Then it was not hard to deduce why he sent Rudy away-he must have done it to turn against him. And his
biggest weakness was none other than his sister...
Now, Magnus could only hope there was still a chance to salvage the situation!
Boom! Aora kicked open the ancient wooden door of the study.
Ezra, who had been reading inside, calmly lifted his gaze. He did not appear startled, only slightly intrigued. “It's
you.”
“Ezra Zelinsky, you are responsible for Mr. Tanner's death! Your life is mine!” Aora bellowed before lunging
forward with lethal intent.
After all, Gautier had warned him not to engage in conversation with the eloquent Ezra-just to strike fast and kill.
Aora firmly believed in Gautier’'s words and executed his orders without hesitation.
He was confident that Rudy could withstand no more than three of his attacks. Against a mere scholar like Ezra,
he expected to end the fight in one move.
To his shock, his attack missed entirely!
Ezra effortlessly tilted his head aside.
Not only that, but Ezra swiftly kicked over the table in front of him, sending it flying straight for Aora’s jaw!
