Chapter 1216 New Climates
Lucy wanted to cry but found herself unable to shed a single tear. She knelt silently before Lennon's grave, one arm stretched out
to touch the grayscale photo of his face.
This man was nevering back.
Despite his failings and misdoings, she had hoped he would live well and not live on in people's memories this way.
After staying at the cemetery the entire day, she reached out for Alexis's hand and gently said, "This is your father."
Alexis's innocent voice echoed through the cemetery, "Father, | miss you."
Yet, would he even hear these words?
Nevertheless, life must go on.

Learning that Alexis had lost his father, Cherise brought Soren and Serafina to entertain him daily. The children's emotions came
and went quickly, but it didn't take long before the little one started grinning again.
However, the scouldn't be said about Lucy.
"Sometimes, | wonder," Lucy said one day, sitting in a pavilion of the Lenoir family mansion, sipping juice and watching the three
kids playing at a distance. "Did he know the cruise ship would explode? Did he know that this day woulde? Did he push me
away, hoping to sparefrom the pain?"
Cherise's heart ached for Lucy. She bowed her head as a slight smile pulled at her lips, "Maybe."
"No, he would not be so considerate." Lucy sighed. "If he truly cared about my feelings, he shouldn't have died in the first place."
Lucy herself knew that she was treading dreary grounds, so she swiveled to face Cherise and changed the topic. "lI haven't seen
Colin in a while."
"He's on a business trip out on the seas with my husband," Cherise replied.
Lucy dipped her head. "Has he adjusted to life in Adania?"
Cherise nodded. "Pretty well. At first, he was miserable due to the climate here, but later, my husband brought him to meet people
from theics association, and he's enjoying it here more."
Lucy smirked. "He's in his fourth decade of life, yet he still acts as if he were a child."
"That's probably because of where his interests lie," Cherise sighed, thinking about her and Lucy's dreams.
Cherise had once vowed to be a great cardiothoracic surgeon to prevent others from suffering the scondition as her
grandmother. Lucy also decided to study medicine because her mother had been in aatose state throughout her childhood.
They met in university and made a pact to be outstanding surgeons together.
But...
Now, Cherise was a stay-at-hmom who'd quit her job, while Lucy was a professional gamer doing livestreams online. Both had
veered miles from their original dreams.
As Cherise mused about the previous circumstances, Blake suddenly strode in and nabbed her, tugging her outside.

"Blake, what's going on?" Cherise grimaced as he pulled at her arm.
"Bad news!" Blake cried out.
The young man left Cherise at the door, then suddenly went back in to haul Lucy out as well.
Otto drove up in the car. "Mrs. Lenoir, Ms. Staber, get in!"
Cherise and Lucy were confused, but understanding the dire look on both Blake and Otto's expressions, they dared not stop to
question it and quickly got in the car.
"Blake, please tellwhat's the problem," Cherise pressed urgently once she was seated in the car.
"It's Mrs. Luther," Blake said, biting his lip, unable to continue.
It was Otto who ended up answering Cherise. "Maeve's heart suddenly stopped beating properly. She is now in the hospital, barely
clinging to life. The doctors say... she's at death's door."
Cherise's heart sank. She shut her eyes and placed her hands close together. She had always known this day wasing.
