"Just you wait, Sarah. Your day will come." Serena turned away, about to head back to her room for srest, when a maid rushed in.
"Mrs. Larson, two guests from the Jansen family have arrived. Shall I show them in?" "What are they doing here?" Serena froze for a moment.
Howard had cto the Larson residence-and hadn't even given her a heads-up? Then, it clicked. The last the called, Hugh had picked up. Of course Howard wouldn't dare contact her directly anymore.
"They said they're here to discuss the engagement party for Mr. Cole and Ms. Sarah," the maid explained. Serena's brows knitted together. "Didn't we already have the engagement party?" "They're saying they want to hold another one. A grander one." Serena frowned. Now, that was suspicious. Who would hold two engagement parties? But even if she sent them away today, they'd just cback tomorrow. There was no point in delaying the inevitable.

Everyone in the household knew Serena had been staying at the Larson residence lately, mainly to shield Calvin from the chaos outside.
Calvin was completely in the dark-even about the mess Sarah had recently caused.
Howard helped Rachel through the door, only to find Serena sitting alone on the couch.
His gaze instantly turned cold. "Where's Mr. Larson Senior? We have something important to discuss with him." Serena said, "I know. You're here for Sarah and Cole's engagement. Then, you can wait for Eric and Melissa. Grandpa's health isn't great. He can't sit around just to wait for everyone to arrive. I'll be your host today." She took a delicate sip of tea and smiled faintly as she added, "As Mrs. Larson." The words landed sharp and deliberate a clear reminder of her standing.
If this were anywhere else, Howard would've slapped her by now. But this was the Larson residence, and Serena was Hugh's favorite.
He didn't dare to do so.
Rachel's face paled. "Serena, my pregnancy's been a bit unstable lately. I'd really like to wrap this up quickly, if possible. Maybe you could " "Ms. Lloyd, if you wanted things done quickly, an appointment would've helped. Dropping by unannounced... Are you hoping Grandpa won't want to be vel embarrassed and will just say yes to whatever you ask? Today, it's the engagement banquet. What's next, the wedding tomorrow?" Rachel didn't reply. She simply pulled Howard to sit down beside her, trying to stay composed.
But Serena wasn't wrong.
The engagement party had barely wrapped up. What reason could they possibly have to throw another one? This visit was probably to push for a wedding. Serena narrowed her eyes slightly but remained relaxed, waiting for the others to arrive.

Rachel didn't
't waste a second. "Mr. Larson Senior, Sarah's already carrying a child of the Larson family. A private engagement party that only the family knows about... It's a little dismissive, don't you think? If you ask me, they should get married before the baby is born... Since it was already nighttime, Calvin looked weary. His eyes were half-shut, seemingly deep in thought.
Melissa, worn out from the past few days, slumped in silence on the couch.
Eric forced his words out. "The engagement party was enough. Everyone in our circle already knows. The scandal hasn't even blown over yet, and you're already pushing for a wedding?"
