Chapter 538 Are You Trying to Trick Me? Monica could only muster a weak smile and silently hope Kelvin would let her off the hook soon! But then, Timothy showed up right on cue.

"Whoa, what's all the commotion here?" Timothy chimed in. "Kelvin, never thought I'd see you in the cafeteria." Before Kelvin could say a word, he spotted Penelope and got the picture instantly. "Oh, Mrs. Davis is here, so naturally, Mr. Davis has to be here too. Makes total sense!" Then Timothy's eyes landed on Monica.

"Hey, why do you look like a scared puppy, all hunched over like you're confessing to a crime?" Timothy teased. "Where's that fearless attitude of yours?" Monica shot him a death glare.

Did he really have to open his big mouth? No one would miss his voice if he stayed quiet! "Why the stink eye? Did I say something wrong?" Timothy asked, feigning innocence. "Did I miss sjuicy ?" Monica and Penelope both averted their eyes, looking anywhere but at him.

Kelvin finally spoke up, "Yeah, you did miss something." "Really?" Timothy's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Spill the tea!" "Ask her," Kelvin said, nodding towards Monica. "Repeat what you just said aboutbehind my back." "She badmouthed you? Doesn't she do that every day?" Timothy said, completely unfazed.

The three of them stared at Timothy, speechless.

"Did I say something wrong?" Timothy asked again, still playing the innocent card. "Isn't that the truth?" Monica cut in, "Alright, enough, Mr. Foster! Mr. Davis, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have talked smack about you behind your back. My bad. I was wrong, and I won't do that again. I promise!" Kelvin stayed silent.

But Timothy couldn't help himself. "Are you gonna tell Kelvin off to his face?" Monica couldn't take it anymore. She lunged forward and clamped her hand over Timothy's mouth. "Please, just shut up!" Why did Timothy have to have such a big mouth? He just wouldn't stop talking! Her soft, delicate hand pressed firmly against Timothy's lips.

The scent of her hand cream filled Timothy's senses.

A faint jasmine fragrance.

For a moment, Timothy wished she would keep her hand there so he could enjoy her scent a little longer.

But that thought only lasted a few seconds.

"Hey, hey, hey," Timothy grabbed her wrist, trying to pull her hand away. "Men and women should keep their distance... hey..." "Stop talking!" Monica insisted.

"So many people are watching," Timothy pointed out.

Monica knew they had already becthe center of attention in the entire company. She had to get out of there, fast! "Sorry, Mr. Davis," Monica said. "Mr. Foster needsfor something. I'll work sovertime, so I won't be staying." She dragged Timothy away, pulling and tugging. "The cafeteria food is amazing, just perfect! As an employee, I give it 101 points! One more than a hundred!" Kelvin's face was dark and stormy, clearly not pleased.

But he didn't hold it against Monica.

Soon, Timothy and Monica vanished from the cafeteria.

At the elevator, Monica finally let go.

"Are you trying to getkilled?" "I didn't do anything," Timothy said casually. "You were the one talking trash about Kelvin behind his back and getting caught. How is that my fault?" "Yeah, I was talking nonsense, but you didn't have to pile on!" Monica snapped.

"What did I even say?" Timothy shot back.

Monica gave him another withering glare.

"I'm genuinely curious," Timothy said. "You've trashed Kelvin to his face before without batting an eye. Why are you so freaked out today?" This wasn't like her at all.

"None of your business," Monica huffed. "Mind your own damn business." Timothy crossed his arms and smirked. "Could it be that to win against me, you encouraged Penelope to divorce Kelvin, and he just happened to overhear everything?" Her secret was out.

Monica's face turned pale.

"That's not true!" she instinctively denied.

"Really? Are you sure? Don't lie to yourself!" Timothy pressed.

Monica gritted her teeth. "Fine, I admit, I had a bit of a selfish motive, but my ultimate goal wasn't to win the bet! Kelvin isn't right for Penelope. He brings her nothing but pain and endless torment. They have no future together; they should part ways on good terms!" Sure, she wanted to beat Timothy.

But she wouldn't go so far as to set up Brandon and Penelope, sacrificing Penelope's happiness on purpose. Kelvin really wasn't a good husband! Whoever married him was cursed!

"Yeah, yeah, we've known each other for years. I know what kind of person you are," Timothy replied. "But from what!! what I've seen, the truth will cout soon. When that day comes, you'll see Kelvin as a good man, a responsible and upright man!" "Impossible!" Monica shot back. "Just wait and see. It won't be long," Timothy said.

Monica shook her head repeatedly. "Kelvin is already at zero points for me... no, negative points. Letting Madison move into King Manor, allowing Lucy to y to call her mommy, e ignoring Penelope's feelings, and so on. Any one of these is unforgivable!" Timothy countered, "What if letting Madison move into King Manor was a last resort? What if he's been trying to make Lucy realize the truth? And how do you know he doesn't care about Penelope's feelings? He probably hurts ten times more than she does!" Originally, Monica was dead sure her judgment was spot on.

Kelvin was an absolute jerk! Terrible! But now, she was a bit shaken.

Timothy had always backed Kelvin unconditionally, and his words seemed to suggest that Kelvin had his own struggles and that everything happening now was just on the surface.

The real truth was hidden in the dark, unseen by anyone.

Could Timothy know shidden truth? Was that why he made the bet, luring her to agree? "Timothy!" Monica exclaimed, "Are you trying to trick me?" "What trick?" Timothy said.

"Did you get sinside info from Kelvin?" Timothy raised his hand. "Kelvin didn't spill anything to me! Our bet is fair, absolutely no problem, and no scheming against you!" Seeing his confident and earnest expression, Monica was even more puzzled.

Could she have guessed wrong? But Timothy, this guy, couldn't stay serious for more than a second.
