“When a benefactor moves to the level of a lover, you really shouldn't mix business with that kind of
relationship. It never ends well.”
As a token of goodwill, Jackson even revealed all he had uncovered about Chris to Stephanie.
Though she had made it clear she wanted to call off the engagement, but how many girls can see their own
heart clearly?
In any case, Jackson warned her not to waste any more ton Chris.
Even if she managed to get together with him, their reunion would eventually crumble.
Stephanie's eyes flickered with surprise. She hadn’t expected another twist in the relationship between Olivia
and Chris.
“Thank you.”
Jackson left the box with her. “I'm leaving now. Keep this gift,” he said.
It had been meant for her in the first place; he had never taken back a gift.
Jackson left Stephanie’s office and immediately ran into Chris, who had clooking for her.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtChris’s face was sullen, and when he saw Jackson coming from Stephanie’s office, his mind buzzed with
thoughts, and a familiar idea crept into his mind.
As they brushed past each other, Chris grabbed Jackson’s wrist. “What are you doing here?”
In Chris's view, Stephanie had nothing to do with Jackson.
So why was Jackson showing up at Stephanie's place?
With a smile playing on his lips, Jackson replied, “And what do you think I'm here for?”
Chris's scowl deepened. He was clearly misunderstanding the situation.
Normally, Jackson might have clarified, but he wasn’t about to indulge Chris's baseless assumptions.
Especially since Chris always assumed the worst about Stephanie.
He was waiting for the day Sebastian would put Chris in his place, bone by bone.
Jackson's nonchalant attitude only infuriated Chris further.
Before he could act, Jackson broke the tension, “Your arm isn’t in good shape, and your leg seems hurt too. Are
you sure you want to get into this?”
“If you end up unable to walk, don’t say | didn’t warn you.”
The comment only ignited Chris’s fury further.
His arm was broken, and his doctor had said he would need that cast for at least a month.
His leg injury wasn’t severe, but it still caused him pain, making him limp.
“Just tell me, why are you here looking for her?”

Chris seethed, every word laced with anger.

Jackson smirked, “Mind your own business! She’s already announced her breakup with you to everyone in Long
Harbor. I'm the one pursuing her now. Is that a problem?”
Chris was momentarily stunned, his chest burning with rage.
Jackson then shook him off forcefully, not wanting to get into scuffle on Stephanie’s turf.
He knew that public altercation might eventually reach Sebastian, and that was a risk he couldn't take.
From Stephanie's earlier words, it was clear that with Sebastian in Long Harbor, Chris had been completely
kicked out of the picture.
He planned to return and renegotiate the contract. Maybe there was still hope.
He should not waste his ton Chris.
Jackson walked away, leaving Chris standing there fuming.
His mind reeling with questions about Stephanie and Jackson’s inexplicable connection.
He recalled how the Hodge Group had soared to unprecedented heights after Jackson took over.
Later, Jennifer Adams tried to stop Chris.
But he wasn’t someone she could just stop easily.
Stephanie refused to see him, but Jennifer couldn't stop it. She was so furious she nearly called the police.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThe office door slammed against the wall with a loud thud.
Stephanie had just opened the box that Jackson had left for her.
There, shining brilliantly, was an enormous diamond ring. Before she could process it, Chris burst into the room,
storming
over.
The moment his eyes fell on the ring, his mind went blank.
“Jackson gave that to you?”
‘So, Jackson's visit was a proposal?‘ The thought flashed over his mind,
