Chapter 116
Stephanie let out a soft chuckle. “Mrs. Hart, you really know when to bow and when to strike, don’t you?”
A moment ago, she was talking about kidnapping her own daughter. Now, she was practically begging.
Stephanie had seen plenty of shameless people in her life. But Catlin was on another level entirely.
Catlin met Stephanie’s mocking gaze and felt her chest tighten further.
But she had no other choice. Olivia's condition was deteriorating by the second.
“I'm sorry. It’s all my fault,” Catlin whispered.
Not just apologizing, she was surrendering completely. And every single word she spoke was for Olivia.
Stephanie scoffed. “You've got it wrong. My lawyer will contact you soon. When he does, just sign the papers.”
She was done with them. These people, every moment spent entangled with them only brought her misery.
Without another word, she turned and left with Elliot.
Catlin watched her retreating figure, her chest tightening unbearably.
Tyler struggled to get up from the ground, the pain in his abdomen slowly subsiding.
The man beside Stephanie was clearly trained. That single kick felt like it had nearly ruptured his
organs.
“What papers does she want you to sign?” Tyler asked.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtCatlin froze for a moment before realizing it. Stephanie had meant what she said earlier that she was severing
ties with them.
Her anger flared again, her head pounding. “What else could it be? She wants to cut off all ties with us.”
Tyler and Chris exchanged looks, momentarily stunned.
Catlin sneered bitterly. “Before, | couldn't understand where she got all that confidence. Now I do.” Her voice was
dripping with resentment.
Catlin had thought Stephanie’s threats to sever ties were just empty words. But now, she understood. Stephanie
had powerful people backing her.
“She thinks she can rely on those men and walk away from us? She’ll regret it!” Tyler spat.
He was convinced that one day, Stephanie would realize she had made a mistake. And when that day came,
they wouldn't give her the chance to take it back.
Catlin remained silent, and she agreed with Tyler. “For now, what do we do?” she asked.
“You sign the papers. Let Allison and Macro cback first,” Tyler said without hesitation.
He wasn’t worried. Once he had gathered enough information on those men around Stephanie, he would deal
with her properly.
Catlin exhaled sharply, nodding. “Right now, we don’t have another choice.”
No matter what, Olivia had to be saved first.

On the way to visit Mrs. Blackwood, Elliot kept glancing at Stephanie.
She noticed and sighed. “If you have something to ask, just ask.”
Elliot didn’t hesitate. “Miss Giovanni, you're not the type to endure mistreatment. How did you let those people
torment you for two whole years?”
Having worked closely with Sebastian for a long time, Elliot had always seen Stephanic as someone raised like a
princess, untouchable and invincible.
She wasn’t someone who would let herself be used, let alone be dragged down by the members of the Hart
family.
Stephanie smirked. “Torment? What torment? | don’t think I've suffered at all.”
Elliot frowned. “But with your personality, shouldn't you have cut ties with them long ago?”
More than anything, he couldn't understand how Stephanie had ever been engaged to Chris.
Stephanie chuckled. “You're right. Normally, | would've walked away without a second thought. But | never forgot
why | left the Giovanni family... or why | distanced myself from Sebastian.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThe moment she mentioned leaving the Giovanni family, a flicker of pain crossed her eyes.
Even after all this time, the memory still stung.
Back then, it had hurt so much, so much that it felt unbearable. Sebastian had been going through the darkest
period of his life. She had wanted to stay by his side, to weather the storm with him. But she couldn't.
Elliot's voice lowered. “Because the Casalini family was watching you from the shadows?”
Stephanie glanced down at her palm, her fingers brushing over a faint, barely noticeable scar. After a moment,
she gave a quiet nod.
