The fact that she even knew about this only strengthened his resolve. Stephanie had to go. If she stayed, she'd

be nothing but trouble, both for him and Olivia.

“Shut up. I'm done arguing with you. Mom said you're leaving Long Harbor immediately. You want to go on your

own, or do | have to make you?” Tyler's voice was practically dripping with fury.

Stephanie could tell he was ready to play hardball.

So that’s how it is? Well, if we're tearing off the masks, | might as well stop pretending too, she wondered.

With a scoff, she said, “Oh? You really think you've got what it takes to makeleave?”

Tyler was caught off guard for a split second.

Stephanie continued, her tone calm yet taunting. “The man who gotout tonight can protectjust as easily.

Tell Olivia she’s out of luck. I'm not going anywhere.”

She wondered, ‘Olivia went all out tonight. First, she tried to provokewith words, then she pulled her little

tricks. Everything about it screamed desperation. There's got to be a reason. And I'm going to find out what it is.

Her mocking tone and blatant arrogance sent Tyler into a blind rage. “How dare you!”

Stephanie cut him off. “Enough. If you really had the power to get rid of me, you wouldn't be wasting time

running your mouth. We both know you wouldn't showan ounce of mercy.

“So go ahead, and try me. But if you can’t follow through, do yourself a favor and stop this pointless bickering.

You won't

win.”

Tyler was so furious that he slammed the call down. If he kept talking to her, she might actually drive him to a

heart attack.

Meanwhile, Catlin had just finished speaking with Olivia. Stepping out, she immediately noticed Tyler's stormy

expression. “You're back already? Weren't you supposed to pick her up from the station and send her straight

out of Long Harbor?”

Tyler shot her a dark look. “Looks like we won't be getting rid of Stephanie that easily.

“What?” The moment she heard those words, Catlins face turned cold. “What the hell happened?”

“She was taken away by a man, someone powerful. And she’s not staying in Cloudridge Valley anymore, Tyler

said.

“Then where is she?” Catlin asked.

“No idea.” Tyler exhaled sharply, rubbing his temples.

He wondered, ‘For the first time, I'm realizing that maybe | never truly understood Stephanie

He had always thought of her as nobody, a girl raised in poverty, without status, without skills, a complete waste

of space.

But everything that had happened over the past few days told a different story. The people she knew and the

connections she had all pointed to something much bigger.

Macro, Allison, and now, the man who bailed her out, these weren't just random figures. They were people with

wren influence.

“If she doesn't leave, Olivia's going to be constantly dealing with her? Catlin snapped. The idea alone had her

Tyler's expression darkened. “We need to figure out exactly what she’s hiding first

“Hiding?” Catlin scoffed. “She grew up dirt poor; what could she possibly be hiding?

Tyler shook his head. “And yet, look at the people she’s surrounded by Chris said that the status of the man in

“And judging by how they interact, it's obvious they've known each other for a while. Then there's Macro, and

They were all big shots.

That stuof hers wasn’t small; it was a serious business. And opening something on that scale required serious

money. Upon hearing this, a flicker of doubt crossed Catlin’s eyes, ‘Have | ever truly understood my own

daughter! the wondered. “Then figure it out. Fast,” Catlin ordered.
