Chapter 402 A Man of His Word Michael's POV: I knew Caden Holbrook well-he was a man of his word and never made light of his words.

If he denied being responsible, then there was no question that he was telling the truth.

That meant someone else had to be pulling the strings from the shadows.

But who? Was it an enemy of the Wild Pack, or had Wendy provoked the wrong person? For now, I couldn't piece it together.

I kept a serious expression and replied, "Apologies for the interruption." Back at the Wild Pack, the moment I stepped into the study, Wendy was right behind me.

"Michael, did you go see Caden? Why didn't you takewith you? What did he say?" she asked urgently, gripping my arm in frustration.

"Wendy, have you made any enemies?" I asked, deep in thought.

She frowned in confusion. "Huh?" "Caden denied having anything to do with leaking what happened that night," I said in a low voice.

Her face lit up instantly. "Really? So that means he still cares about me, maybe even likesa little, right?" I was at a loss for words-Wendy was completely infatuated with Caden.

"Wendy, snap out of it! If he had even the slightest feelings for you, he wouldn't have set you up with that gigolo werewolf," I said sharply, rising to my feet. "What you should be focusing on now is whether you've crossed someone-and if they're the one who exposed that night's events online!" "I haven't!" Wendy shook her head, looking completely bewildered. "Who would I have offended? The worst it could be is someone envious of me." "I'll have someone look into it," I said, waving dismissively. "Go back to your room and get srest." "I don't want to rest-I want to see Caden!" Wendy clung to my arm, desperation in her voice. “Michael, taketo him!" "You're still this stubborn?" I yanked my arm free, my patience wearing thin. "Get out!" I said with an icy tone.

Wendy's POV: Seeing Michael lose his temper, I had no choice but to release his arm and storm out of the study in frustration.

I stepped out of the car and marched straight into Eclipse Group, only to be stopped by the receptionist. "I'm here to see Caden," I said, standing tall with confidence.

The werewolf receptionist offered a polite smile. "Apologies, Ms. Crawford, but Mr. Holbrook just left." "Where did he go?" I asked.

The werewolf receptionist responded, "It looks like he headed to the hospital." The hospital? I froze for a moment.

Is he going to see Heidi? With no other choice, I returned to the car.

"Why do you think Caden went to the hospital? Wasn't the Alpha of the Eclipse Pack already discharged?" I turned to Lilian, seeking an answer.

"If Mr. Richard has already left, then Mr. Holbrook is probably there to see Heidi," Lilian replied after a brief pause.

I nodded, finding her reasoning plausible.

"Let's go take a look." The idea of Caden visiting another woman sent a surge of jealousy burning through me.

When we arrived at the hospital, Lilian quickly asked about Heidi's room number, and without wasting any time, we took the elevator straight to her ward.

The door was slightly open, and through the narrow gap, I caught a glimpse of Caden standing inside.

Caden's POV: "Tessa, how are you feeling?" I asked blankly, my gaze falling on Heidi as she lay in the hospital bed.

In the middle of a meeting, I received a call from the doctor informingthat her condition had taken a turn for the worse.

"She regained consciousness briefly earlier and kept calling for you, Mn Holbrook. Would you like to csee her?" the doctor asked carefully over the phone. Remembering Rosaline's request, I gave a slight nod. "Alright, I'll be there soon." Ending the call, I wrapped up my meeting and hurried to the hospital, where the doctors were still working to stabilize Heidi.

After waiting outside the operating room for a while, I finally saw several werewolf nurses pushing her out on a stretcher.

I stepped forward and turned to the werewolf doctor in the white coat trailing behind. "How is Heidi?" The doctor responded respectfully, "Thanks to prompt intervention, she's no longer in critical condition." My expression darkened. "What caused her sudden decline?"

A flicker of hesitation crossed the doctor's eyes before he explained, "Ms. Tessford's advanced-stage stomach cancer makes her condition unpredictable. Fluctuations like this. aren't unusual." I nodded, deep in thought, then followed the nurses as they wheeled Heidi back to her room.

I gazed at Heidi in silence for a moment before turning to leave.

Just then, her weak voice called out, "Caden, you cto see me? I thought I'd never see you again." Her face was ghostly pale, and as she looked at me, the admiration in her eyes was unmistakable.
