In the medical center room, Evelyn Winters watched as Lucas Blackwood and | walked in hand in hand. Our mate
bond was strengthening with each passing day, and | could feel the warmth of his presence through our growing
connection.
"Alpha Blackwood, don't worry- are those burns serious?" my mother asked, her maternal instincts
extending to the Alpha who had risked everything for her daughter.

recovery time," Lucas replied respectfully, his gray eyes soft with concern. "Are you feeling any pain or
discomfort?"

instantly.

Evelyn was equally nervous, her maternal instincts flaring. "Alpha Blackwood, you can't be reckless and do
anything that would compromise the Blackwood Pack! Hand Victoria over to the authorities immediately!"
"Mrs. Winters, | won't cross that line. Victoria isn't in my custody," Lucas said, holding my hand tightly as he
spoke to both of us.
