Brian had not gone hafter leaving the nightclub, as he struggled to face Ariana.
He must have had too much to drink, or he wouldn't have allowed Ariana to touch his abs! How dumb was that?
“Mr. Lodge, are you going back?”
Emily pushed the office door open at the wrong time, which earned her a glare from Brian.
She quickly changed her tune. “Got it. I'll book the hotel room for another night.”
“Wait a minute!” He stopped Emily.
She went up to him. “Mr. Lodge, anything else?”
“How's Ariana doing today?”
“Oh, Ms. Torrey?” Emily gave it sthought and answered, “She left the house early in the morning. Nothing
special.”

“Did she not ask about me?”
“Not at all, but she told the staff not to prepare dinner because she’ll be hlate.”
Brian's expression immediately fell. How could she not chfor dinner? Had she forgotten her promise to
him in no time?
He reflexively took out his phone to check in with her, but scenes from the nightclub flashed across his mind.
Instead, he instructed Emily, “Call Ariana for me!”
“Sure.”
Soon, Emily dialed Ariana’s number, and the latter picked up very soon.
Ariana asked, “Ms. Weston, what's the matter?”
Brian grabbed the phone from Emily and put it on speaker. Emily reluctantly cleared her throat and asked, “Ms.
Torrey, are you done with your classes? I'll have the driver pick you up.”
“I'm done, but | have something going on. Don’t worry about me.”
A jarring voice was heard from the other end. “Who are you calling?”
Brian's face fell upon hearing it, and Emily inhaled sharply in the deafening silence of the office.
Soon, Ariana said to them, “I need to go. I'm hanging up now.”
With that, she ended the call.
Sitting in the silence, Emily couldn't help but steal a glance at Brian's face. The familiar male voice from the call
just now was unmistakably Victor's.
“Mr. Lodge, maybe... Maybe it’s a misunderstanding.” Emily tried explaining on Ariana’s behalf, but the veins on
Brian's forehead bulged from anger.
He kept his temper under control and said, “Look into this need to know where both of them are!”
“G-Got it, Mr. Lodge.”
Emily hurried away so as not to waste a minute more.

After she left, Brian got up and changed into new clothes. Outside, Evelyn arrived in tas usual to meet with
him after work.
She pushed the door open, only to see Brian taking his coat off the rack, ready to leave. She went up to him.”
Brian, where are you off to?”
He turned around and saw Evelyn dressed rather casually that day in a white T-shirt and a pair of jeans-clothes
that she would never wear in the past.
He frowned at Evelyn, who seemed to be taking over Ariana’s fashion style.
She squirmed. “Brian, why are you staring atlike that?”
“Eve, that outfit doesn’t suit you."
With that, he left his office in great strides, Evelyn paled, and she suddenly went weak in her knees.
Brian, always observant, seemed to have figured out the reason behind her choice of outfit immediately. A bitter
smile appeared on Evelyn's lips. As expected, Brian had developed feelings for Ariana.
